About Me

I have been a Visual Artist for all of my adult life and now also enjoy filmmaking. I am passionate about creating visually to draw attention to environmental and social concerns- through artwork, food, film....or any other medium that leads me down the path of sustainability and social awareness. I am involved with Be Spirited by Nature Group who are trying to connect people with Nature. Also I am now consumed by the healing potential of colour, essence and dyeing which have been my latest passion...Celestial Wearable Art "Of the Essence" Healing Coats. I have been studying Celestial Plant Medicine for a number of years with David Crowe and Arjun Das. Correlating and putting together my two passions has been very rewarding and fulfilling with great healing results especially for PTSD. Work is not work when you love what you do, and the handing over a creation which takes about 1 month from start to finish, is such a joy.

Had another meeting for our Culture 2 Culture exhibition at Rosebed St Gallery yesterday.  It is all coming together for the opening on the 25th May.   Our last lot of Chinese tiles will hopefully be back in Australia now thanks to Leon at the Foreign Affairs Dept in Xiamen China and Father Richard Gowty who went over to develop a music exchange for a Sunshine Coast College through Sister Cities.
Jen had a great night loosening up with left hand and time restrictions.  She is a strong mark maker with her right hand so using her left was a challenge.

chinese artists are coming for sleepovers

Ten days to go before Li Jun and assistant arrive to visit and do workshops here on the Sunny Coast. His chinese brushstroke artworks were fascinating, simplistic yet strong. I just hope the interpreter turns up as well. They are homestaying with me for four nights or so. Artist friend Noela Mills who went to China with me is having them for a couple of nights too. We are excited that they are the beginnings of building our Artist exchange network with China.

Christine's gone dotty......ok not for the first time!

I am a little behind as it is nearly the last Wednesday in the month... but as I have gone dotty, all is self explanatory. I also missed the words about the square and went totally with the circle for everything, especially when I discovered the diameter of my found fabric from an box of old coasters was the right dimension. I get easily excited when I find these old things at my favourite "shop". So now I present my "clayton" square dotty alphabet beginnings.

Festuri fun with Sister Cities and Art4Place

Saturday at Caloundra for Festuri was a little upside down. Storms in the morning caused a late start but it was beautiful set up by the ocean with the children and adults dropping in for fun and craftiness. Xiamen Sister Cities Dragon ended up being painted this time and so much fun was had taking it for a walk this time, the kids wanted to do it again. Drew the line on a third as my voice was disappearing. Great day with Art4Place gang keeping it real with art and getting the Sister Cities message across. Fab day!
